Hi my name is Rich Dittman.
I work with gem stones and do metal smithing. I live in the city
of Ellsworth, that is located in downeast Maine.
Many of my jewelry pieces start with a large rock or small bolder.
I then cut the rock up into 1/4 slabs. At this point I look for
neat designs and colors and outline a shape i want to cut out. I
then use my small saw and rough cut the stone to size. Then i hand
grind and polish to a beautiful cabochon.
Now I will then set my stone into a hand made silver setting.
I do all my silver work, so it is very much one of a kind.
